Goku means aware of emptiness (The 'Go' syllable means enlightenment, and the 'Ku' syllable means Sky or Emptiness). Goku's full name (Son Goku) is the Japanese name for Sun Wukong, main protagonist in the Chinese legend Journey to the West, off of whom Goku is loosely based. Goku was a low class Saiyan that was sent to destroy Earth. His father, Bardock, was disappointed when his power level was only 2.

When he was sent to Earth, he bumped his head and got a case of amnesia. He was pure hearted from then on. He was adopted by Grandpa Son Gohan, who was his first trainer. He accidentally killed his "grandfather" when he turned into an Oozaru (by looking into the moonlight).

He was found by a young girl named Bulma when she went to search for seven mystic balls called the Dragonballs.

He went looking for the Dragonballs when he and Bulma came across an old pervert called Kame Sennin. Kame Sennin was once the world's strongest man. After a while, Goku went back to Kame Sennin for training. He became super strong and was given an orange gi. He wore this gi almost through Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z.

Vegeta (ベジータ, Bejīta), or Prince Vegeta is the prince of the fallen Saiyan race and arch-rival to Goku. He is the husband of Bulma, the father of Trunks and Bulla, the estranged brother of Tarble, and the great-great grandfather of Vegeta Jr. Aside from Goku, Gohan, and Piccolo, he is easily one of the most prominent characters in the series, receiving more character development after being introduced than a number of other characters. He was once a young member of the Saiyan Army under the Planet Trade Organization, but after his race's demise, he worked alongside Nappa and Raditz, directly under Frieza.

He later joins the Z Fighters while battling along side them on Namek, and returns to Earth with them as well, where he remains for the rest of his life. As with almost all Saiyans, Vegeta's name is a pun off of vegetables, and in the case, most of the word itself, "vegetable."

Ash Ketchum, known as Satoshi (サトシ^?) for all appearances in Japan, is a fictional character in the Pokémon franchise owned by Nintendo. He was created by, and named after, Satoshi Tajiri as the protagonist of the anime and manga series, as well as on various merchandise related to the franchise. In Japanese, the character is voiced by Rica Matsumoto; in English, he was voiced by Veronica Taylor from 1998 until 2006 and the eighth season of the anime series, replaced by Sarah Natochenny for the remainder of the anime and Kayzie Rogers in The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon television special. His name comes from the original English motto, "Gotta Catch 'Em All"

Ash is the hero of Pokémon. Spunky and determined, Ash started traveling the world at age 10 to become the greatest Pokemon master of all. His main Pokemon partner is his Pikachu.

Ash travels with Misty and Brock. Misty goes with him until he can repay her for her bike that he accidentally broke. Ash and Misty don't get along to well. Ash likes to play pranks on her, insult her, and argue with her. Brock usually breaks up the fights.

Ash may be stubborn, thick-headed, and dense, but he cares about Pokemon a lot and treats them with kindness.

Astroboy was called Tetsuwan Atom in Japan. The black and white series was created, animated and produced by Osamu Tezuka (1928-1989) through his own company named Mushi Productions. Tezuka, like his father, was a qualified doctor of medicine but was more interested in drawing. Astroboy was a successful comic strip in Japan in the 1950's. It was released in Japan between 1963 and 1966 and was shown on Melbourne TV in April 1966 at 5:30pm Sunday's on channel 0. The tv week described it as "Cartoon adventure series about a youngster in the 21st century." It was the first animated TV series to be produced in Japan, and after becoming a worldwide hit, Japanese cartoons began to flood the market with the release of other successful series' such as Gigantor, 8th man and Prince Planet. The large oval eyes became the standard for most other Japanese cartoons. So What Makes Him Memorable? He was the first anime character to come over from Japan, setting up the exchange that would happen over the years and opening the doors to such classic shows as Speed Racer and Battle of the Planets.  The fact that the character develops human emotions within the run of the show (making it necessary for Professor Ochanomizu to build him parents) also makes him an interesting character. My Neighbor Totoro (となりのトトロ, Tonari no Totoro^?), is a 1988 Japanese animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli. The film follows the two young daughters of a professor and their interactions with friendly wood spirits in postwar rural Japan. The film won the Animage Anime Grand Prix prize and the Mainichi Film Award for Best Film in 1988.

The film was released on VHS and laserdisc in the United States by Tokuma Japan Communications' US subsidiary in 1993 with the title My Friend Totoro.

Streamline Pictures produced an exclusive dub for Japan Airlines' transpacific flights in 1988. Troma Films, under their 50th St. Films banner, distributed the dub of the film co-produced by Jerry Beck. It was released on VHS and DVD by Fox Video. Troma's and Fox's rights to this version expired in 2004. The film was re-released by Disney on March 7, 2006.^[1] It features a new dub cast. This DVD release is the first version of the film in the United States to include both Japanese and English language tracks, as Fox did not have the rights to the Japanese audio track for their version.

You’re going to need some pencils, paper, coloured pencils, markers and a rubber. And the knowledge:

• use a pencil and don’t make permanent lines until the end, as lots of things might need to be modified in the process
• when drawing an anime character, always start with the face: begin with a circle, then start adding elements
• anime characters usually have very large eyes, so take this into consideration when drawing your own model. The eyes will differ on whether the character is female or male, evil or good, sad or happy, etc
• sketch the proportions of the face until it becomes as realistic as it can
• draw hair. In anime, hairstyle is very important, as most of the prominent characters are known mainly for this aspect. The hair is usually drawn in strands or clumps, with shading elements between
• add clothing to your anime character. Clothes also should look as natural as possible. This might be a little harder at the beginning, but in time you’ll learn to perfect your anime drawing skill
• Make the previous lines permanent with a marker or something. Add color to your character.
